That being said, however, March is but a week away, and that is the perfect time to start preparing for true spring.

You can already begin prepping all your tools and things for the coming spring months, to make sure you are ready to start the job of landscaping.

One very important thing is making sure your tools are in good shape. For instance, anything with a blade — shovels, hoes, lawnmower, et cetera — needs to be sharpened. Not only are dull tools pretty well worthless, but in some cases they can mess up your yard.

You can also begin testing your soil, so you will know what you need when you are ready to buy fertilizer and the like.

As you can see from the picture, it is rather easy to do pretty landscaping in the spring and summer, but those months have passed and we are coming up on fall and winter.

You might think there is not much you can do between October and March or April, especially once the snow starts falling, but that is not true.

In the fall, make sure the yard is free of leaves, branches, and other such debris — it is just that simple. In the winter months, just try to keep the sidewalks and things free of snow and ice. Perhaps most importantly, do not let your Christmas lights stay up until February or anything like that, tempting as it may be.
